While driving the Wild Atlantic Way, we stopped by The Burren Perfumery and it was outstanding. It reminded me of my favourite perfumery in Paris (which I’ve written about previously here). I just had to take pictures of everything and let you all know about it.

It’s a little bit out of the way but it’s definitely worth the trip if you’re travelling around the Burren or doing the Wild Atlantic Way like we did. Don’t worry though, you can find directions on their website. Before our road trip, so many people recommended the Burren Perfumery, we couldn’t miss it. We even arrived there just after closing on the first day so we decided to go out of our way to make it our first stop on the second day!

You might think that it is just a perfumery, however, it is so much more! At the perfumery, they have a shop where you can buy not only perfume but candles, soap, hand creams, lip balms, teas and more. Inside the shop, there is an area where they play a 15 minute video all about the history of the Burren and the company. There are also some Tea Rooms where you can have afternoon tea and cakes. There’s a beautiful garden area where you can see where they grow herbs and flowers for their products. It’s fascinating.

I don’t know about you but the staff in an establishment always make or break an experience for me and in the Burren Perfumery, the staff are incredible. As I said previously, we arrived first thing in the morning – we were actually (quite embarrassingly) waiting outside when the staff arrived! But they were fantastic. They played the video for us and then, upon sampling and smelling the perfumes – we were spoken through each and every one of them. Every ingredient was explained to us. All of the ingredients are locally sourced and most come from the Burren itself. We were told all about the scents and undertones of every bottle – we were even told about the founder and makers of the perfumes. I loved the entire experience. Also, a huge bonus is that all of the perfumes are to die for!

Hattie bought the Autumn Harvest scent and I will definitely be going back to buy one or the originals at some stage, I loved the scent called Ilaun. Ever since going there and to the shop in Paris, I don’t think I’ll ever purchase perfume from Boots ever again!
